Padronagens & Afins, Wagner Campelo

Have a look at the wonderful work of Wagner Campelo, a Brazilian pattern designer. This is what Wagner says about himself:
“I was born in Rio de Janeiro, where I live, 45 years ago. When I was still a child, everybody said I was good at drawing, and I believed them. So much that later, when the time came for entering the University, in 1982, I chose de Fine Arts School, at UFRJ, and graduated in 1985.
At the beginning of the 90s, I worked for a multinational firm as a patterns designer. To say the truth, much of what I know I learnt there, at a time when everything was done with pencils, paints and brushes.
In 2004 I was invited to join a design firm whose work is basically aimed at the international market. We have already shown our work at some patterns and textiles international fairs and our drawings, all based on Brazilian themes, have been shown in several countries.
In my patterns and prints I seek to ally colours and forms, in simplified traces, very graphic, and I hope, very bright.”
